2007 is turning out to be a great vintage for Pinot Noir from California especially from the Sonoma Coast all the way down to the through the Central Coast.
Though still young, this fantastic 2007 Pinot Noir by Loring from Rosella's Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County is already turning out to be a great Pinot.
This wine is medium body, fleshy, with a fresh burst of blueberry fruit, some plum, spice, menthol, and a little bit of alcohol on the round and pleasant finish (it's a big Pinot at 14.5% but not over the top). Although a bit on the pricey side ($37.49 on sale at Zachys), Loring is a very good small Pinot producer, especially if you can get their wines at a good price. Just give it some time to open up or enjoy over the next few years. Cheers!
