Making Whoopie (Pie, that is)

Whether it's the little black dress or a string of pearls, the classics never go out of style. The same is true of desserts. We stumbled onto Trois Pommes Patisserie and found the classic Whoopie Pie ($2.50). The chocolate cake was so soft and the French vanilla cream filling was very light. (Though it's a staple in both Pennsylvania Dutch and New England cultures, our Canadian friends tell us it reminds them of a grown-up version of Jos. Louis snacks they enjoyed as kids).

There are so many other desserts here, including their homemade version of the classic Oreo cookie (2 for $1.50). We cannot wait to come back to relive our childhood favourites - with a decidedly adult twist.
