We decided to dine in - Baoguette Cafe has a slightly larger space and more seating - and scanned the larger menu.
Though we were tempted to go with the classic baoguette, we ordered a more playful version of the traditional banh mi sandwich.
We opt for the Sloppy Bao ($7) sandwich. The tasty baguette is filled with flavorful, slightly spicy beef. The beef is well seasoned with shallots, garlic, lemongrass, red curry paste, basil, and fish sauce. Sliced jalapeno peppers add a bit more heat. The spice is offset by the sweet julienne mango, tart pickled onion, fresh cilantro leaves.
"Sipping" from our Vietnamese Ice Coffee ($2.50) looks to be a familiar sight...
...the watchful eye of chef and owner Michael Huynh!
