Updated 01/29/10: Dessert Truck is closed. It has been re-opened as DT Works. http://www.highlowfooddrink.com/2010/01/dessert-truck-is-back-with-dt-works.html
We happily found Dessert Truck on the NE corner of E 55th St. and Lexington Ave. Founded by roommates, former Le Cirque pastry sous chef Jerome Chang and Columbia Business School grad Chris Chen, the Dessert Truck offers unexpectedly beautiful sweet creations from a contemporary, but modest truck. These desserts could rival any decadent creation found in upscale restaurants.
Coffee Mousse ($6)
This light and fluffy coffee mousse had a vanilla ice cream center. We loved the fun cocoa puffs on top as they provided a nice crunchy texture mixed with the smooth mousse and silky chocolate syrup.
Goat Cheesecake ($6)
The goat cheese and the rosemary caramel sauce were very subtle. The earthy flavours combined well with each other, with a hint of perfume from the rosemary. The blackberry added a nice light sweetness while the wafer crisp added a nice crumby texture to the dessert.
We cannot wait to go back and try the bread pudding with bacon custard!
