Essex Restaurant - Weekend brunch specials

The weekend's here and like many New Yorkers, we are always on the hunt for some good brunch places. We heard about the cheap boozy brunch at Essex, a restaurant right by the Essex Street market on the lower east side. All dishes are at least $16 with unlimited mimosas, bloody mary cocktails, or screwdrivers. (Though the menu says 3 drinks only, you definitely get as much as you want as the servers keep going around with pitchers to replenish drinks. $16 for brunch is not really cheap, but when you factor in the unlimited drinks, it definitely becomes a great deal in the city!)
Mexican Matzo Brei ($16): scrambled eggs with tortilla crisps, black beans, monterey jack, avocado, and pico de gallo.
Baked eggs with crisp ham, over roasted peppers, shiitake mushrooms, and monterey jack ($16). It also came with mixed greens and hash browns.
Egg white omelet of fresh spinach, tomatoes, sheep's milk cheese, and chives ($17). It also came with mixed greens and hash browns.

3 eggs any style (scrambled here), with fresh fruit, and choice of bacon, apple sausage, tempeh bacon, or breakfast sausage (bacon here) ($16). Also included are hash browns and mixed greens.
Crispy potato pancakes ($16) with a sauce of sauteed apples and honey cream in addition to a spinach-shiitake-black bean hash. The applesauce was delicious as there were large chunks of apple in it.
Seared diver scallops with potato pancake ($18) and poached eggs with mixed greens. One of the eggs were overcooked (almost completely hard boiled) which was disappointing because we love runny yolks. The scallops were fine and the potato pancake was tasty and crispy.
Essex is located at 120 Essex St. (The entrance is actually on Rivington St.)
