Can you believe that the first day of Spring is only 4 days away? I'm so excited for warmer weather - and the warm, soft colors of Springtime flowers. With daffodils in bloom, I knew I wanted to incorporate their sunny, cheerful color in this easy centerpiece idea. It's not just Spring (and Easter) that inspired me to create this organic arrangement. My foodie friend Christine (from Fresh Local and Best ) is about to have a baby boy (Alexander, due on Cinco de Mayo!). To celebrate, Diana (from A Little Bit of Spain in Iowa) and I are hosting a virtual baby shower for her (more details on how you can win some great prizes below!).
When I saw these pale green chicken eggs at Whole Foods (all natural, no dyes), I knew that they would be perfect for Christine's (virtual) Baby Shower arrangement. (I've bought green duck eggs before at Chelsea Market, and have oftentimes seen green eggs at the Union Square Farmers' Market). Christine, as her blog name suggests, loves fresh, organic, local, and sustainable foods so incorporating these locally sourced and beautiful eggs seemed like a natural fit.
By hard boiling these eggs, you can also have a pretty Easter brunch centerpiece that doubles as part of the meal! Not only do the daffodils add a bright burst of yellow to the centerpiece, but I later learned that daffodils are a symbol of "new beginnings" and "rebirth". What better way to celebrate Christine's new journey into motherhood?
Now for the details on Christine's Baby Shower and how you can win some great prizes too. Diana has partnered with 3 companies (Bravado! Designs, Kidco, Inc., and Beco Baby Carrier) that will not only give away gifts to Christine, but also give you a chance to win their products too.
