Baoguette - Our new favourite Banh Mi spot in the City

Vietnamese Banh Mi is a sandwich baguette filled with meat and vegetables. Baoguette, located at 61 Lexington Ave (between 25th and 26th Sts), is a new hot spot for this cheap and flavourful lunch fix.

Inside the small spot, there is a long, narrow counter with stools where you can quickly eat your meal. The restaurant offers other items like Thai iced coffee, summer rolls, and rice with Chinese sausage. It was the banh mi that we decided to eat.

Despite the other tasty sounding options, we opt for the classic Baoguette ($5, we chose the spicy option). The bread is fantastic - fresh from the oven! The meat filling is a house-made pork pate, terrine, and pork belly. Complementing the meat are tons of vegetables that give the sandwich a nice, light, summery taste: cilantro, carrots, daikon, jalapeno, and cucumbers. The sandwich also has a little bit of house-made mayo and, because we opted for spicy, Sriracha hot sauce.

We will definitely be back to try out the other banh mi options (BBQ Chicken is next on the list) along with the classic.
