In the Flatiron area of Toronto is the historic St. Lawrence Market. There are rows of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, wines, condiments, and other farmers' market goodies. We love to wander through the rows (it's easier on a weekday as the weekends are packed with shoppers), sample different products, and speak with the vendors.
There's also a beautiful upstairs space (the Miele Gallery Market Kitchen) with a kitchen that caters to cooking demonstrations, classes, and product samplings. Gourmands can rent the space for special events (weddings, showers, corporate dinners) in a unique, historic venue with views of the Flatiron building and CN Tower.
Our favourite vendors at St. Lawrence Market include Kozlik's Canadian Mustard (we love the Horseradish, XXX hot, Triple crunch, and Bordeaux) and the St. Lawrence Wine Market (wines from Niagara's Hillebrand Estates Winery including Trius).
St. Lawrence Market is located west of Jarvis Street, between King Street East and the Esplanade. Check here for hours of operation as they vary throughout the week.
