Being a little greener with Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Truck

Happy Earth Day! In celebration of all things "green", we are highlighting the Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream truck. Their entire philosophy revolves around being committed to the environment: from their products to even their bottom line. 1% of all profits are given to Wildlife Direct, a grassroots organization dedicated to protect critically endangered species.

Van Leeuwen offers numerous flavours whose ingredients are sourced from local farms and small family-owned companies around the world. The ice creams are exceptional because the ingredients are natural, organic, and preservative-free.

We bought a medium cup ($5.75) with a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of coffee ice cream. The dessert was fresh, rich, and creamy. The best part? It is served in cups made of Bagasse (a fiber made from sugar cane husk) and spoons made of corn husk. Being environmentally-friendly never tasted so good!
