Upcoming Event: Le Grand Fooding: NY vs SF Sept 24, 25

Last year we attended the charity event, Le Fooding, which highlighted NY and Parisian chefs.  Though it was crowded (it helps to tag-team with someone else to navigate the lines) and a tad damp (it rained the night before), it was a fun event for a great cause.  After all, it's not every day that 6 celebrity chefs are in one spot cooking and serving food.

We just got an email about this year's line up, and we think it'll be even more fun! Pitting New York chefs (like Momofuku's David Chang and Blue Hill's Dan Barber) against San Francisco chefs (like Coi's Daniel Patterson and Nopa's Laurence Jossel) already sounds like it'll be a heated (and delicious) contest.  Here's the menu and details:

September 24, 2010:

• Pickle salad New Yorkese (Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi of Torrisi, NYC)
• Beets, goat cheese, walnuts (David Chang of Momofuku, NYC)
• Vegetables on a plate (Jeremy Fox of Plum, Oakland)
• Wood-grilled pork ribeye, smoked tomato jam (Laurence Jossel of Nopa, SF)
• Tennessee-style fried chicken (Robert Newton of Seersucker Brooklyn, NYC)
• Scallops with smoked stone fruit emulsion, licorice herbs (James Syhabout of Commis, Oakland)

September 25, 2010:

• Beef cooked in beef fat, anchovy crostone, parsley and fried garlic (Nate Appleman of Pulino’s, NYC)
• September vegetables grilled on carbonized pork bones (Dan Barber of Blue Hill, NYC)
• Squab, ras el hanout, cherry (Mourad Lahlou of Aziza, SF)
• Octopus, charred lemon, yogurt, taggiasca olives (Brian Leth of Vinegar Hill House, Brooklyn, NYC)
• Vegetables on a plate (Daniel Patterson of Coi, SF)
• Suckling pig confit with summer fruit mostarda (Melissa Perello of Frances, SF)

The event will be held at MoMA PS1 in Queens, NY.  All ticket proceeds go toward Action Against Hunger.  Tickets go on sale to the public NOW (see below) on Sept 13th at 2pm , but we've found some pre-sale links here.  For more details, see Le Fooding's website.

UPDATE (9/2/10): Tickets have now gone on sale NOW! Click here.  The VIP tickets have sold out, but the $50 regular tickets are still available.
