Pretty in pink! This past weekend marked the start of Hanami at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Hanami is the Japanese tradition of enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms.
Last year, we took these photos - but wanted to share them with you as a reminder to take advantage of the warm weather and check out these beautiful blooms. The gardens are a wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely walk and afternoon picnic.

Because the cherry blossoms bloom at different times throughout the month, you can check out the Brooklyn Botanic Garden CherryWatch blossom map for up-to-date status views of the park's cherry blossoms (http://www.bbg.org/exp/cherries/map.html).
In addition to cherry blossoms, there are plenty of other flowers to brighten up your day!
Hanami runs until May 2nd, culminating in Sakura Matsuri (a weekend celebrating Japanese culture). For directions, hours, and admission costs, check out the Brooklyn Botanic Garden online. The garden is closed on Mondays but free on Tuesdays.
